Tag via right-click
XTagger adds an item to your browser’s right-click menu when you’re on X.com. This is useful when:
- The hover trigger isn’t appearing for a particular element
- You prefer keyboard-driven workflows
- You’re on a profile page and want to tag quickly without hovering over the username
To use it:
- Right-click anywhere on a tweet or on a profile page
- Select Tag this user with XTagger from the context menu
- The tag editor opens — add a tag, pick a colour, save
When is the context menu useful?
The hover trigger activates when your mouse rests over a [data-testid="User-Name"] element — the display name + @handle combination X.com renders for each account. On some page layouts (notifications, search results, embedded tweets) the hover target can be small or obscured. The context menu bypasses this entirely.
On profile pages
When you’re viewing someone’s profile directly (x.com/username), right-clicking anywhere on the page and choosing the XTagger option will tag that profile’s owner — XTagger reads the username from the URL.
Keyboard shortcut
The context menu can be reached without a mouse:
- Select any text or right-click using your keyboard’s context menu key (usually between Alt and Ctrl on the right side)
- Arrow down to the XTagger item
- Press Enter
